What Are The Best Free Things To Do In El Nido?
The best free things in El Nido are its sunsets and its beaches. Watch the sun drop at Corong Corong or Las Cabanas, swim off the town beach, walk the strip and the little marina, and spend a day at Nacpan Beach. The catch is transport and food, and the famous lagoons are paid, but the views cost nothing.
The pattern is easy to see: anything you can walk to, look at, or swim in is free, while anything that needs a boat or a guide is not. That still leaves plenty. Where Are The Best Free Sunsets?
Head south of town to Corong Corong or Las Cabanas Beach, both a short walk or tricycle ride away. Corong Corong is known across Palawan for its sunsets, and you can watch the whole show from the sand for free. Buying a drink at a beach bar is optional, not required.

Can You Enjoy The Beaches Without Paying?
Yes. Swimming off the town beach and the sand at Corong Corong costs nothing, and Nacpan Beach, a long twin beach roughly 20 km north, is free once you are there. The only real cost is getting to Nacpan, about a 45-minute tricycle or van ride, and whatever you eat while you are out.
Nacpan is the standout. It is reached by land, not on a boat tour, so you skip the fees entirely and just pay for the ride out and back. A wide arc of golden sand, room to spread out, and a few simple beach shacks for lunch make it an easy full free-ish day. What Can You Do On Foot Around Town?
El Nido town is tiny and walkable, which makes wandering it one of the better free things to do. Stroll the beachfront and the restaurant strip, watch the bangka boats and fishermen come and go at the little marina, and take in Taraw Cliff rising straight up behind town. The view of the cliff is free, though climbing it is not.
Mornings are the best time to walk the waterfront, when the boats are loading up and the town is waking. The jagged limestone of Taraw looms over everything and makes a dramatic backdrop from street level. If you want to actually climb it, the guided via ferrata is a paid, booked activity, but simply looking up at it costs nothing. There is a small public market near the center worth a wander for cheap fruit and a snack, and the whole loop from the waterfront to the market and back takes under an hour on foot, none of it needing a booking or a guide.

The free stuff is genuinely good, but it is not why El Nido is on your list.
